Shepard Fairey x Upper Playground x The 008 for Obama

In an ongoing effort to secure Democratic hopeful Barack Obama's presidential bid, The 008, Shepard Fairey and Upper Playground are working together to create T-shirts of Fairey’s popular Obama campaign posters to be distributed throughout Texas prior to the primary on March 4, 2008. In the past month, Fairey announced his endorsement of Obama by creating a limited run of posters adorned with a portrait of the Senator along with the words “Hope” and “Progress” that have become defining slogans of his campaign.

Shepard Fairey and Upper Playground will be offering the T-shirts for purchase through www.upperplayground.com. The T-shirts are available in both a “Hope” and “Progress” edition and they each retail for $25. All proceeds from the sales of the Shepard Fairey/Upper Playground collaborative Obama T-shirt will go directly to creating more campaign T-shirts, posters, and stickers by other artists in support of Obama's bid for President. Upper Playground recently endorsed Obama’s campaign by creating campaign posters featuring artwork from the Date Farmers.

Both shirts are available in men's and women's styles.

For more information on the Shepard Fairey/Upper Playground T-shirt and their endorsement for Obama, please visit www.obeygiant.com or www.upperplayground.com.

Shepard Fairey and Upper Playground would like to thank everyone who continues their support of the Barack Obama campaign.

Upper Playground x Date Farmers x Obama Limited Edition Screen Prints

On March 4th, 2008, Barack Obama has the chance to secure the Democratic Party nomination for President by winning the delegates in both Texas and Ohio. We at Upper Playground are pleased to announce our support of Barack Obama in 2008. For too long we have been plagued by mediocrity and incompetence at the Executive level. As an international company, we feel that it is time to support a candidate that truly embodies the American spirit in both his campaign and his ideologies. We believe that Barack Obama is that candidate.

To help secure Obama's bid, Upper Playground has asked the Date Farmers to create a campaign poster to be mass-distributed on offset posters throughout Texas prior to the primary in that state. Upper Playground is offering the same image as a limited-edition screen print of the Date Farmers' Obama 2008 campaign poster through www.upperplayground.com. There will only be 300 limited-edition copies of the poster signed and numbered by the artists available (price is $200 each). All proceeds from the sales of the Date Farmers’ Obama 2008 screen print will go directly to creating more campaign posters and stickers by other artists in support of Obama's bid for President. The limited-edition screen prints are a pre-sale item, and will not be shipped until March 7th, 2008.

REMINDER: THIS PRINT IS A PRE-SELL ITEM AND WILL NOT BE SHIPPED OUT UNTIL MARCH 7th, 2008. THEY ARE SIZED AT 18"X 24".

R.I.P. Polaroid

Polaroid is dropping the technology it pioneered long before digital photography rendered instant film obsolete to all but a few nostalgia buffs. Polaroid is closing factories in Massachusetts, Mexico and the Netherlands and cutting 450 jobs as the brand synonymous with instant images focuses on ventures, such as a portable printer for images from cell phones and Polaroid-branded digital cameras, televisions and DVD players. This year’s closures will leave Polaroid with 150 employees at its Concord headquarters and a site in the nearby Boston suburb of Waltham, down from peak global employment of nearly 21,000 in 1978. (CNN)
