Marshawn Lynch's Rookie Year

Upper Playground extended family member and Buffalo Bills rookie running back Marshawn Lynch topped 100 yards again yesterday, on his way to 1,115 yards for the year. That's him, #23, about to make some linebacker look stupid.

Bring in the new year right. The 12 Grain line has some real gems in it. Spark something up this year.

Someone with far too much free time on their hands "translated" the Indian lyrics of this song into english words that sound similar. The end result is almost as ridiculous as when everday folks like my mom mistake the lyrics of her favorite Elton John song in which she thinks he's singing: "hold me close i'm tired of dancing" when he's actually singing: "hold me closer tiny dancer." Another popular translation: "hold me closer tony danza". If you don't know the Elton John song I'm referring to then consider yourself lucky.

We over here at Upper Playground love products that have multiple uses. Take for instance our bandannas. These little square pieces of cloth have so many great uses.
You can use them to blow your nose, wear as a fashion statement, give your pet some flair, keep your neck warm, and even hold up a liquor or convenience store. The list goes on and on.

We got this gem of a shot from the C.I.A. I guess they are using our bandannas to blindfold and interrogate suspected terrorists. Glad we could help out.

For all the Styles.

January 2008 Juxtapoz

The new Juxtapoz is out on newsstands now. Illustrator Tomer Hanuka did the cover image, and there is a nice interview with him and Aesop Rock inside. Nice stuff from Eduardo Recife and Mark Jenkins as well. . . . and Estevan Oriol has a nice portrait in there, too. Check it out, newsstands across the US of A.

Oscar Peterson, 1925-2007

Upper Playground sends its respect to one of the biggest talents in jazz history, if not American musical history. Check the video too, some insane work 1958 style. Ray Brown on double bass too, just killing it.

Miracles Can Happen

Not to get too sentimental, but miracles can happen. And being that its near Xmas, its Sunday, and people like gifts, sports, and miracles, its pretty much a no brainer. Available at Fillmore Street.

Meet Mr. Jake Donnelly. Jake came out here and stayed with me for the last 2 months after winning Slaps one in a million contest. The dude is pretty much like my little brother. Except when it comes to skating. Then he is on his grown man shit. Here is some footage of Jake pretty much tearing S.F. a new one.

What's your type?

Calling all typophiles. A must see for you font loving folks; "Helvetica". Yep, our favorite sans-serif typeface has it's own movie that touches on the idea of how much type affects our lives, the exploration of urban spaces in major cities and the type that inhabits them, and a fluid discussion with renowned designers about their work, the creative process, and the choices and aesthetics behind their use of type.

Sorry not talking about your eye sight. But if you need some pint glasses I can help you out. Dora, Flores, Fish, and Basco all came through with some sick designs to help you enjoy your chilled beverage just a little more.

It even makes this taste better.

See this friend? This is called a gift box. Do you know what you could do with this?
You could fill it full of the tightest stuff. Since most of you are waiting till the last minute to finish your holiday shopping let me make a suggestion. Go here, get stuff that people will like, and be awesome. Pretty simple if i do say so myself.

Our friends the Date Farmers have a really sick book out. You should give it to someone for Christmas.

Cause you never know when some retard is gonna drive up on the sidewalk, take out a fire hydrant and shoot water 30 ft in the air.

Pardee in Portland

Here are some photos from Alex Pardee's opening in Portland. Good turn out, good art, good job.

To purchase art follow me.

Tizz the season right? Well i think i know a lot of good little boys and girls that would love a brand new SuperFishal skateboard for Christmas or Hanuka. These boards are made here in the U.S.A by Watson and screen printed on maple. Don't disappoint the kids, give them something they can hurt them self's on and destroy public property with.
